Casper Teams With Nordstrom For Retail Distribution
Shoppers will have the ability to purchase Casper’s mattresses and sleep accessories through the web at Nordstrom.com and in some Nordstrom retail locations starting this November.
“Partnering with a premier retailer like Nordstrom is another step towards advancing our multi-channel distribution strategy to reach more customers wherever they prefer to shop,” Casper President and Chief Commercial Officer Emilie Arel said in the announcement. “As we are spending more time at home, people are seeking out a better sleep experience more than ever.”
At first, Casper will be available at 31 of the retailer’s full-line locations. The firm now has relationships with 23 retailers in addition to its 66 owned shops and online shopping channel.
Nordstrom will offer a collection of the sleep company’s most popular items for the bedroom such as its mattresses, weighted blankets, sheets and pillows. All of Casper’s products will be showcased in the Nordstrom At Home category.
“As we redefine our Home category, we’re excited to be partnering with Casper to bring their award-winning assortment of bedding to Nordstrom,” Nordstrom Vice President of Creative Projects and Home Olivia Kim said in the announcement.
Casper, for its part, has a complete portfolio of sleep items such as mattresses, furniture, bedding and pillows that are designed by its research and development workforce at Casper Labs in California.
The news comes as Nordstrom’s Q2 earnings showed the expected sales drop from pandemic-related store closures, but Nordstrom did not capture anywhere near the online shopping sales momentum that other merchants saw in Q2.
By the numbers, net sales dropped 53 percent from the quarter concluding Aug. 1 in contrast to last year, which reflected store closures for about half of the quarter because of the pandemic.
